Departamento de Defensa otorgó contrato para proyecto de biometría

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 9 November 2004. Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it has won a four-year, $52 million contract to support U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Biometrics.
Under the terms of the contract, CSC will provide the DoD Biometrics Fusion Center (BFC) with technical support, including product evaluations; biometric technology and application research; standards requirements and conformance testing; program management; and educational outreach.

Teaming with CSC are several West Virginia small businesses, including Azimuth Inc., New-Bold Enterprises Inc., Galaxy Global Inc. and TMC, all of Fairmont; Ideal Innovations Inc., Arlington, Va.; and Galaxy Scientific Corporation, Egg Harbor Township, N.J. Also on the CSC team are West Virginia University, Morgantown, and West Virginia High Tech Foundation, Fairmont.
Based in Clarksburg, W. Va., the BFC is the test and evaluation facility for the DoD Biometrics Management Office. The core functions of the BFC are to test and evaluate biometric products, conduct market research, maintain data center operations, and support the DoD in the implementation of biometrics. Biometrics is the field of technology devoted to identification of individuals using biological traits, such as those based on iris scanning, fingerprints, face recognition, etc.
